Cardboard of lacemakers from Le Puy revisited. A true encounter with witnesses of memories. I have seen pictures of these women working with boxwood spindles. Gatherings of women talking and singing, counting on this necessary livelihood. On the cardboard are written names, dates and the number of copies ordered by customers.

Handkerchiefs, doilies, communion dresses, collars, ribbons, petticoats… What a marvellous work of patience and manual dexterity! Great anonymous art in the simplicity of everyday life, yet so sophisticated.

‘Joséphine B.’ and ‘Kökedjin’ come together through the material of their support – elastic organza and Japanese gauze – and through their slender verticality.
